It’s happening. Stay calm. The Office might be coming back after being off our screens since 2013.
After the sad news that the show would be removed from Netflixs after being one of the most popular shows on the platform, it was announced it would still be watchable on NBC’s new streaming service. But it looks like they’ll be going one step further!
A number of sources say the network’s cable entertainment chief Bonnie Hammer is dead set on a reboot “The Office comes back to us in January 2021. It is my hope that we can figure out what that great reboot would be. We are having conversations.” Sounds pretty positive is you ask me!
The new streaming service named ‘Peakcock’ is already planning more reboots of shows like Battlestar Galactica, Saved By The Bell and Punky Brewster!
But would a reboot be the same without Steve Carrell? In an interview last year he told TIME that he’s never thought it would be a good idea – ” I think it existed in that time and with those people and it felt right. There was something so special about it, and I guess it’s an odd way to put it, but I love it too much to ever want to do it again. It’s too special to me in my heart in that period of time.
But the show did carry on after the legend of Michael Scott left. Season 8-9 were all created without Carrell in the staring role. So would he be needed for a reboot? At Binge Season we think it 100% is needed.
Whatever the outcome let’s just hope that if they do make a come back that it’s even better than the last one.
