After endless praise from its first season which premiered on Disney+ in November, it has now been confirmed that some familiar faces from the Star Wars franchise will be making an appearance. But who can we expect to see?
It’s no secret that The Mandalorian has been a huge success, not just as a TV show but also due to it’s recent influence on social media which has been swarmed with Baby Yoda/The Child memes… and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
As reported by Deadline, the show’s creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that “Several established characters” will be present during the coming seasons of the show. There have been no confirmed names as of the publication of this article.
If you are unfamiliar with the series, it follows the adventures of a lone Bounty Hunter after the events of Return of the Jedi. With just one season, the show has a score of 9/10 on IMDB and 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Favreau also gave fans a Christmas treat by announcing that season two of the show will be coming in Autumn 2020! Which is brilliant news if you currently have access to Disney+, however many countries are going to have to wait until next year when the streaming service is available.
Could the addition of original characters potentially distract attention away from what is already an established Star Wars spin-off series? Since Disney took over the franchise, there has been minor criticism it has been too reliant on nostalgia.
