As the streaming service grows even bigger, original content seems to be getting better, with huge names starring. For a full rundown on what we can expect in 2020, have a read of our list of movies that are coming to Netflix…
Out Of The Fire
Chris Hemsworth stars as a fearless mercenary who has to use his skills to rescue a kidnapped son of a crime lord. This one seems like a mega action movie, and as we saw from films like 6 Underground, it could be a good one!
A film all about Taylor Swift, as it follows America’s Sweetheart as she embraces what the world throws her way, from performances, to how powerful a being a woman is. Directed by Lana Wilson, this looks set to be an emotional glimpse at Swift’s chaotic life.
Two musicians are given the chance to represent their country in the world’s biggest song competition. Played by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, they can finally live their dream by showing the globe their talents. With Will Ferrell on board, we know this one will be a gem.
The Boys In The Band
A Ryan Murphy production, as the film follows a group of gay friends reuniting. But their night is thrown into turmoil as one of their closeted friends turns up uninvited. Netflix has been great in the past at adapting plays, including American Son, so The Boys In The Band could be a massive hit.
The Old Guard
Based on a comic book, Charlize Theron and Kiki Payne play a group of mercenaries who must fight to survive as they discover a new immortal. This one has been pipped to be an audience favorite, so keep your eyes peeled for it! (shadow and act)
Would a film like this work without Mark Wahlberg? We think not! He plays an ex-cop who moves in with an MMA fighter. Bringing their skills together, they team up to solve a double homicide.

A film based on true events, the police investigate the disappearance of a young girl. But the search leads the police down a dark path as the daughter was last spotted in a gated community, bringing attention to a dozen murdered sex workers. Netflix hasn’t created many thriller films recently, so this could be amazing, especially as the lead officer is played by Amy Ryan.
A film about children who hatch a plan to send their parents on vacation as they believe they could raise themselves better. After succeeded sending their parents away, the siblings head off on their own adventure to understand what being a family really means.
Another Ryan Murphy film, The Prom follows a lesbian teenager who isn’t allowed to attend her dance with her girlfriend. The film shows the injustice of such an event, with huge stars including James Corden, Meryl Streep, and Nicole Kidman – we are very excited about this one.
Coffee and Kareem
Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson star in this film, as a cop teams up with his girlfriend’s son to attempt to clear his name and take down Detroit’s biggest criminal.
A massive hit for Netflix as this has actually been produced by none other than President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama! (disability scoop). Based on the summer camp for teenagers with disabilities, it sees the effect it had on their lives which eventually ignited a movement in the 70s. Amazing!
This film tells the story of a factory worker who leaves Taiwan to seek the American dream, but he struggles to find a balance with family and the responsibilities his new life brings.
A newly married woman finds herself battling with her husband’s dead first wife, a mystery she finds herself in (the deceased wife named Rebecca of course!). The husband and wife are played by the brilliant actors Armie Hammer and Lily James and was first adapted by Hitchcock in the 40s, so we know this is going to blow our minds.
All The Bright Places
Starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith, the film based on a novel follows the story of Violet and Theodore. They meet and the rest is history, as their lives change forever.
The Last Thing He Wanted
Anna Hathaway plays a journalist who loses the plot to her own personal story after she runs an errand for her father, but finds herself in the middle of something she wants to break.
Some fan favorites are also coming back this year, including Kissing Booth 2 and To All The Boys: P.S I Love You!
