IT’S HAPPENING PEOPLE. STAY CALM. A Friends Reunion is here. After weeks of speculation, it looks like we may finally be seeing one of the most legendary shows come back onto our screens… Well, our small screens.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry will ALL be a part of the hour-long unscripted special Friends Reunion. All to help launch HBO’s new streaming platform ‘HBO Max‘.
We’ve been waiting for this day for what seems like forever and COULD IT BE ANY BETTER? Well yes, it could! The hour-long special will contain some of the world’s favorite comedians like Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Ellen DeGeneres, and Amy Schumer.
It’s an even sweeter day for the cast. According to Deadline each member will be paid somewhere between $3 million and $4 million for the hour-long show with the total bill landing in at the $20 million for the entire cast plus guests. HBO Max has shelled out a massive $425 million for rights to the hugely popular sitcom, stealing it from Netflix after it became the most popular show on the site.
Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman and David Crane are expected to have some involvement in the special even after shutting down rumors in the past about the cast getting back together. “We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Kauffman said just after the shows 25th Anniversary. But it’s amazing what a large cheque can do!
We’ve all seen how much time the cast spend together thanks to Jennifer Aniston’s new Instagram account. They’ve been photographed together a few times so I think it’s fair to say they might have wanted it as much as us! None the less this could be the best news of 2020.
