A new clip for a show based on Charles Forsman’s 2017 graphic novel of the same name called ‘I Am Not Okay With This’, was released on Netflix’s YouTube channel.
This new series from the producers of Stranger Things and director of End Of The F***ing World follows Sydney, a 17-year-old girl growing up in her totally normal life. It shows us her troubles of not being too awkward with her best friend who she secretly loves and her family life where she is trying to deal with the loss of a family member.
Sydney, played by Sophia Lillis, is met by her other awkward friend, Stanley (Wyatt Oleff) in his fly as heck ride in this clip. There’s a brilliant moment in the new clip, which too, is super awkward. Stanley tries to invite Sydney into his car to share a ride to school with him, but his window takes a little bit too long to wind down. The clip really sets the tone for the rest of the series. Awkward.
Check out the trailer below:
In the comics, we learn that Sydney is in love with her best friend, but that too is a bit awkward, as her best friend is in a relationship with an asshole of a boyfriend. The show focuses on that relationship and shows the viewer how Sydney deals with her best friend being treated like crap, and how she uses her telekinesis to hurt the boyfriend and teach him a lesson. Oh yeah, Sydney has a big secret, which is the most awkward thing of all!
I Am Not Okay With This comes from the co-creator, director and executive producer Jonothan Entwistle and co-creator, writer and executive producer Christy Hall. Also, executive produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry from 21 Laps Entertainment. Joining Lillis and Loeff in this awkward adventure (I promise that’s the last time I say awkward) is Sofia Bryant (The Good With, The Code) as Dina, Kathleen Rose Perkins (Episodes, You’re The Worst) as Maggie, Aidan Wojtak-Hissong (The Mission, Failing Water) as Liam, and Richard Ellis as Brad Lewis.
I Am Not Okay With This comes to Netflix on February 26th.
