Netflix has announced it will be extending its deal with Adam Sandler, with another 4 movies in the pipeline. Sandler and Happy Madison Productions have been in contract with Netflix since 2014 having extended the deal once already in 2017, 5 movies and 1 stand up show later the streaming service have announced another extension consisting of 4 new movies, that’ll be 6 more by the time the deal finishes and current projects from previous deals have been released.
Netflix has revealed that subscribers have spent a reported “2 billion hours” watching Sandler’s movies since his first release in 2015 “The Ridiculous 6”.
Sandler is often featured alongside Jennifer Anniston who was the co-star in the “most-watched movie” across 9 countries, “Murder Mystery”. This movie bought a little bit more drama than usually seen in Sandler’s roles with a classic humorous touch, something that he is recognized globally. The lighthearted characters he has starred as, and the sarcasm and humor he brings to every role is what makes Sandler and his movies such easy watches that can never be replayed too many times, and the numbers are evidence of this.
“Uncut Gems” is the most recent addition to Netflix where Sandler plays a more serious role in this thrilling crime mystery. Already gaining astounding reviews, Sandler is described as “flat out sensational” in his role as Howard Ratner. It’s a different side of Sandler, but perhaps it unveils potential characters for him to star as in the future.
