Every year, film lovers love to make their predictions about who is going to be the big winners of the night. Last night, the 92nd Academy Awards were held in Los Angeles, and just like that, the biggest night in Hollywood goes by in a flash! But were our predictions correct? Did our favourite actors, films and so on win big on the night? Here’s a list of of the winners of the night!

Best Picture: Parasite

The biggest winners of the night, Parasite bagged themselves FOUR oscars. Parasite seemed to be the people’s choice, although many Joker would have taken home the biggest award. Parasite was also up against huge movies including 191, Ford v Ferrari and Netflix hits The Irishman and Marriage Story. We believe it is well deserved, congrats Parasite!

Best Actress: Renee Zellweger – Judy

A huge win for our favorite Bridget Jones star. Competition was fierce in this category, including Charlize Theron in Bombshell, but Zellweger’s depiction of Judy Garland seemed to please all audiences. You go girl!

Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix – Joker

One of the most talked about movies of the year, Joker bagged the Best Actor gong, with Phoenix finally taking the award home after four nominations. The actor also gave an emotional speech, where he mention that he feels he has been given a second chance. He truly deserves the award – Joker really something else.

Music (Original Song): ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’ – Rocketman

the music category is usually a hard one to predict, but Rocketma triumphed on the night with it’s original song. Original songs in the category included ‘Into The Unknown’ featured in Frozen II, with Toy Story 4 also nominated for ‘I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away’. But Elton John himself managed to bag the Oscar, amazing!

Animated Feature Film: Toy Story 4

This one seemed to hit a lot of controversy on social media, but ’Toy Story 4’ bagged the award, beating Klaus and Missing Link. Many believed that the animated feature shouldn’t have been taken home by Pixar, as they have now won 10 oscars for best animated feature film, whereas everyone els has a combined win of 9. We hate to disagree on this, we just love Toy Story 4 too much!

Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern – Marriage Story

A win for Netflix this time, as Laura Dern took out the competition, beating Florence Pugh and Margot Robbie. She also beat Scarlett Johansson who was up for the award for Jojo Rabbit. Johansson was also up fro Best Actress, something which hasn’t been done for 20 years. But alas, Dern took the award home, with many people shocked that Netflix didn’t take more home. Better luck next year.

Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt: Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Brad Pitt took the Oscar home for his supporting role, and shockingly enough, Pitt was actually the youngest person in the category! Netflix had three nominations in this category, with Al Pacino and Joe Pesci both up for The Irishman, but Pitt grabbed the award for himself. His speech included Dicaprio, with the actor saying ‘Leo, I’ll ride on your coattails any day, man. The view’s fantastic’.
