If you thought news stories about Fallout 76 being buggy were over, think again! After the Wastlander’s update, promising to fix major bugs and performance issues fans were hoping for a stable game.
Yes, the Wastlander’s update has made Fallout 76 into a good playing experience, this newest bug has made a lot of heads turn. Not in the good way either.
Bethesda reported that they are investigating a bug where Fallout 76’s new NPSs are looting items from players corpses. The worst part it, the NPCs aren’t giving the items back. No swapsy-backsy’s.
Many users over on the Fallout 76 Reddit noted that a strange glitch occurred when killed by NPCs. Some even reporting that stockpiles of ammo and expensive weapons are being taken. These players were stating that when killed by an NPC, they sometimes found themselves waking up and see that same NPC with their gun. This suggests that the NPC took the gun and ammo associated with the gun from the player. This wouldn’t be much of a story, but after killing the thief NPC, you can’t retrieve your weapon off the body.
Rare items are being stolen from players bodies, with no way of returning them without Bethesda stepping in. Weapons that players have spent time, working hard to get are just gone. One player said they lost a weapon worth 15k caps. Some posters have pointed out the public even missions ‘Radiation Rumble’ and ‘Riding Shotgun’. So, stay clear of those until things have been fixed.
One Bethesda Community Manager has responded, writing that they will ‘investigate this immediately’. Hopefully, this bug will be fixed in no time at all. As for the people who lots expensive items, in my mind, Bethesda should compensate them. They must have a system for looking back in a players inventory and seeing what item they had. Surely.
