When the world is full of doom and gloom, we’ll take all the good news we can get, and fortunately, John Krasinski has taken it upon himself to help us out! Episode 1 of Krasinski’s new web series ‘Some Good News’ bought us The Office reunion we all needed, as he chatted to friend and co-star Steve Carrell. The bar was already set pretty high, but then Episode 2 came along and delivered something completely unexpected!
Now quickly becoming the highlight of our week, all-round good guy and spreader of positive vibes, John Krasinski teamed up with songwriter, actor, and composer Lin Manuel-Miranda to surprise a young fan.
Lin Manuel-Miranda is perhaps best known for being the creator of the Broadway sensation, Hamilton, a musical telling the story of American founding father, Alexander Hamilton. Manuel-Miranda of course already has a connection to Krasinski, having also starred in the Disney sequel Mary Poppins Returns, alongside his wife, Emily Blunt.
Mary Poppins herself and of course Krasinski were on hand to create an extra special surprise in this week’s Good News instalment. They introduced us to nine year old Aubrey, a superfan of Hamilton (but not so much of The Office!), who was left devastated after the performance she was supposed to attend for her birthday was cancelled due to social distancing guidelines.
However, Krasinski and Blunt, with a little help from Lin Manuel-Miranda himself were able to pull off the impossible, and bring the original Broadway cast of the musical together for a virtual performance.
Original cast members including Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, Renee Elise Goldsberry and many more, united to sing Aubrey’s favourite song, opening number ‘Alexander Hamilton’.
And if that wasn’t enough joy, Krasinski also told the delighted Aubrey that he would sort out sending her and her family to see Hamilton in New York once this is all over.
Some Good News is the only news we need right now! Wonder what next week’s episode will have in store…
