After an impressive 12 seasons, The Big Bang Theory came to an end in 2019. But one year on, what have the cast been up to?
Make no mistake, Kaley Cuoco was already an established actress before appearing on The Big Bang Theory, most notably as Bridget Hennessey in 8 Simple Rules. Since the show came to end, she has been the voice of Harley Quinn in the animated series of the same name (you can check out our article on this Here). She also made a cameo on Young Sheldon which is a prequel to The Big Bang Theory however this was only a voice acting role which went uncredited.
He was our favourite T-shirt/Shirt combo space man, But what’s he up to now? Well it seems he has taken a well deserved break. The latest role he has been cast for is pre-production for a film titled As Sick as They Made Us for which the synopsis reads “A divorced mom tries to make peace with her dysfunctional family as she finds a second chance at love”. He’s also not one for social media.. so he may be hard to track down…
It’s safe to say Jim Parsons has been one of the busiest cast members during and after the show came to an end. Most recently he has been highly praised for his role as Henry Wilson in the new TV Mini-Series Hollywood. And of course Young Sheldon which began two years before The Big Bang Theory ended. He has certainly been keeping busy and doesn’t look as if he’s going to slow down any time soon!
Johnny Gallecki is another cast member who had already landed some big roles before starring on the show. You can see Gallecki as a fresh faced child star in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The arrival of his and partner Alaina Meyer’s first child in December 2019 could be the reason we haven’t been seeing much of Gallecki in the last year. That being said, he managed to find time to reprise his role as David Healy in the Roseanne spin-off The Conners.
Following the retirement of his role as Raj Koothrappali on The Big Bang Theory, he appeared as Guy Diamond in Trolls World Tour. However, in a recent Instagram post Nayyar announced that he would be taking a step back from social media, the full post can be seen below:
Keeping with the comedic roles, Melissa Rauch went straight on to voice act in Robot Chicken as various character including Betty Spaghettie and Poopsie Unicorn… Back in May this year, Rauch also announced the birth of her baby boy, Brooks.
Following her role as the highly intelligent and lovable Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, it seems she took a well deserved break from acting for the past year. She does however have two shows in pre-production, one of which is titled Call Me Kat in which she plays the lead role who (according to IMDB) is “A 39-year-old woman who decides to use the money her parents had been saving for her wedding to buy a cat-themed cafe”.
So there you go! considering it’s only been a year since one of the biggest sitcoms came to an end, the cast have been keeping pretty busy!
