To entertain us all in the absence of the real thing, the English Premier League have been running their ePremiere League Invitational Tournament in FIFA 2020. Now, Sky Sports say the will “broadcast 64 matches across the final rounds of the 2019/20 Premier League”. While other sporting events have tried to overcome the empty crowds with cardboard cutouts or even stuffed animals, the Premiere League have another idea.
EA Sports will be allowing Sky Sports to broadcast their football matches with audio of crowds from FIFA 2020. On the Sky Sports website, they explain “In partnership with EA SPORTS FIFA, Sky Sports has created a range of bespoke and team-specific crowd noises and chants to bring the vibrant atmosphere of the Premier League to the restart.”
The Premiere League is set to restart on June 17, after three months of being shutdown. Most fans can’t wait for any form of football to come back. The first of which will be, Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal. This is all provisional and could change if the global situation changes.
We assume that the producers at the stadium will have some live control over the sounds of the crowd going to your TV. Otherwise, a low murmur during goals can be distracting, or even the crowds going wild after a pass can be even more off putting. You can imagine that the person in charge of pressing the buttons is going to have to be on their game.
