Coronavirus has impacted our lives in so many ways, with the movie industry one of the first to see business affected. 2020 will be remembered as the year of the digital release, with cinemas closing their doors. Although there is uncertainty about the re-opening of theatres, there are some exciting films heading our way next year. With tons of blockbusters pushed back, 2021 has lined up a plethora of sequels that will have us jumping for joy. Here are the most exciting films heading our way in 2021:

F9 – April 2nd

One of the biggest franchises in movie history had a push back this year. F9 was meant to hit cinema screens in May, but the ninth installment will now arrive in April 2021. The film will follow Dominic Toretto after the events of F8, as he rivals against his assassin brother. All the familiar faces will be back again minus Dwayne Johnson, but F9 still looks as action-packed as ever! Not forgetting Han appeared in the trailer!

Matrix 4 – May 21st

Hollywood has gone wild for this one, with Neo back in his dystopian world. No exact details have been revealed, but with the success of previous films, it’s certain the latest movie will be a hit. There are also some new faces joining Keanu Reeves, including Priyanka Copra and Neil Patrick Harris. Exciting!

Jurassic World: Dominion – June 11th

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are back to solve the little issue the world has with dinosaurs. As we all witnessed at the end of Fallen Kingdom, the most dangerous dinosaurs had been set onto the human world, with Owen and Claire in charge of managing the disaster. Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neil are also back, yay!

Venom 2 – June 25th

Eddie Brock is back in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, played by British star Tom Hardy. Woody Harrelson joins the sequel playing Cletus Kasady (Carnage). Carnage is the supervillain born from Venom’s alien symbiote, so it looks like there will be plenty of action in this movie. Next summer is looking very good!

Spider-Man 3 – November 5th

Everyone’s favorite Spider-Man is back again (we love you too Tobey Maguire), with Tom Holland and Zendaya returning to their roles. There is very little detail about the newest installment, but the second movie ended with Peter Parker’s identity revealed. Production was meant to start this summer but filming had to be halted due to the pandemic. Fingers crossed, next November we can all enjoy it!

Fantastic Beasts 3 – November 12th

The magical drama is back for another movie, with Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, and Jude Law back again for the saga. Another production that has been affected by COVID-19, but with restrictions easing, it looks filming for Fantastic Beasts can continue.

Mission Impossible 7 – November 19th

Real-life action man Tom Cruise is back for the seventh spy movie, playing Ethan Hunt once again for the film with the most nail-biting stunts. Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson are also back playing their roles of the IMF crew. Shooting for the movie is reported to start in September – we’re sure we’ll see images in the press of Cruise hanging on to some building soon!

Avatar 2 – December 17th

James Cameron’s epic movie is back for a second movie, as the magical world is being reopened. Avatar became one of the biggest movies in history, with the fantasy loved by fans around the world. It’s been over 10 years since the original, with Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana back again. Avatar 2 will follow the Sully family as they leave their homeland and explore other territories. Steven Speilberg captured the magic in the first fantasy movie – we have high expectations for this one. With a Christmas release date, we’re sure we won’t be disappointed!

A new Sherlock Homes and Space Jam 2 are also coming in 2021. Next year looks set to make up for the lack of movies we’ve had this year. Looks like we will be spending half of our year at theatres!

Low budget movies are set to take over cinemas this year – check out why.
