There are tons of Disney theories that even as adults sock us to our core. Many of us have grown up watching these movies. And as we get older, we realize the true meaning behind the blockbusters. There’s been plenty of films this has happened with. Moana is the latest to have a conspiracy created about it. And we must say, it’s pretty believable!
One fan has created a theory about the 2016 movie that completely makes sense. Moana follows the story of a girl from a Polynesian village who is chosen by the ocean to return the heart of Te Fiti. She sets said in search of demigod Maui to help him return the heart. But one fan has suggested that Moana dies early in the film, meaning her journey isn’t actually real!
So Moana’s journey takes place in a magical world?
When Moana finds herself caught up in a storm, the theory suggests this is where Moana actually dies. Here she ‘transcends between the human world and the magical world’. The Reddit user posted ‘In the very beginning of her journey, Moana asks the ocean for help and immediately gets hit by a storm. We’re meant to understand that the storm drove her to her destination because she wakes up in Maui’s island. ‘What if there’s a barrier between the normal human world and the magical otherworld, where are all the things from Polynesian mythology are? And the only way to get to the otherworld is to be a part of it? For instance, by being dead?’
Their theory continues to say that storm killed Moana ‘so she could go to the place where all the weird magic stuff exists, and at the very end, Te Fiti not only fixes Moana’s boat (which had been wrecked to bits), but also brings her back to life, so she can go back to the human world.’ The Redditor also suggests that there is no human interaction until she returns home, solidifying this theory even further!
Do you believe it?
So although we never see Moana get physically hurt by the storm, there is a possibility this theory could be true. We love seeing Disney conspiracies – check out more here!
