Seems like Netflix has another scandal on their hands. Not long after a petition circulated to have 365 DNI taken down, another movie has been brought to light. And it’s not even released yet. Cuties hits the streaming service on September 9th and many users feel the film is extremely inappropriate. This has caused another petition to be made…

Thousands of people are wanting Cuties to be removed from Netflix as it ‘over sexualizes children’. Cuties focuses on a young girl escaping her tough family life, where she finds a dance troop of girls her age to compete with. The synopsis is so: “Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions”. But many people feel like Netflix has ‘lost their mind’ as it sexualizes young girls…

Could Cuties be an unreleased film?

The petition has already gained a ton of attention, with the site reading: “This movie/show is disgusting as it sexualizes an ELEVEN year old for the viewing pleasure of pedophiles and also negatively influences our children! There is no need for this kind of content in that age group, especially when sex trafficking and pedophilia are so rampant! There is no excuse, this is dangerous content!”.

Tons of people feel disgusted by the movie and are wanting Netflix to act now before it’s too late. Comments include ‘absolutely disgraceful’, with one woman suggesting that this cannot be compared to the real-life scenario of young girls competing in a dance competition. As time goes on, the petition gains thousands of more signatures – but will Netflix act?

The second petition to happen in weeks…

This isn’t the only petition that Netflix has faced recently. The hugely popular movie 365 DNI received thousands of signatures to have it taken it from the platform. Many believed it was extremely harmful to women and normalized abusive behavior. The company did not respond to the petition, leading us to believe Cuties will still be released on the streaming service. Looks like Netflix haven’t got this one right.
