John Wick has become a bit of a cult-classic over the years. The action movies have continued for a number of sequels, with plans for a fourth and fifth movie. With Keanu Reeves notoriously known for his role in famous action movies, including hugely popular The Matrix, it brings into question how long can John Wick go on for. The actor has cleared some things up…
John Wick has become a hugely popular franchise, which is why it has continued for five movies. But many believe the fifth could be the final instalment, but Keanu Reeves has other plans. The actor has suggested that he will continue to make the films as long as it’s what the fans want. With John Wick becoming one of the most popular action franchises of the decade, we could be seeing tons more.
The box office smash hit has recently been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. But while production has stopped for a while, it hasn’t stopped future scripts from being written. With Reeves hitting 60 soon, could John Wick soon be coming to an end? Well, he recently spoke to OK magazine to tell the world that he won’t be quitting anytime soon. The actor explained: ‘As far as my legs can take me. As far as the audience wants to go’. Seems like age really is just a number.
It’s not just his statement that supports more films coming our way in the future. Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick, has also expressed that he is willing to continue making the franchise until ‘somebody makes him stop’. For anyone who doesn’t know, the movie focuses on the world of assassins. Keanu Reeves plays a retired hitman, who seeks revenge after the dog his deceased wife gave him is killed. The fun part of John Wick is watching all the pieces link together, as assassins exist just beneath our own world without day to day folk catching on!
So more films will be heading our way for sure, but 5 may not be the limit. What do you think? Are you happy for them to keep coming or do you think it’s overkill?
