Some great news this week for fans of Pretty Little Liars. The season finale aired over three years ago, but it looks like we haven’t fully said goodbye to the show. Pretty Little Liars ran for seven seasons. And has even had two spinoffs that were sadly cancelled after the first season. But things are looking up, as Warner Brothers want to revive the franchise one last time…

The Hollywood Reporter has recently announced that Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the Riverdale showrunner, will be taking on the Freeform smash-hit. Reports suggest that work on a brand new script is already underway. There will be a new story and new characters, but will still be linked to the ladies from Pretty Little Liars. Could there be another A to be afraid of?

As of yet a network has not picked up the script. But The Hollywood Reported has suggested that HBO Max is considering investing in the show, meaning it will be the new platform the series will stream on. No major details have been revealed as of yet, just that Gina Girolamo and Leslie Morgenstein will produce it. There’s no news as of yet whether I. Marlene King, the original series creator, will be returning to work on the new project.

The teen thriller series became one of the most popular series for Warner Brothers, as the mystery aired around the globe. Pretty Little Liars has also been responsible for shooting a number of actors to fame. Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson and Cody Christian are just a few that have now starred in huge projects since PLL left the air in 2017. While Pretty Little Liars: Ravenswood and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists both failed to make an impact, there’s hope that a third and final attempt at a reboot will be enjoyed by audiences everywhere.

This news also comes after Lucy Hale recently shown interest in being involved with a future PLL project. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in May, the actress said: “when the time comes that they want to do it with a whole new cast, I might have to produce it because I’m way too protective of it”. This seems like the perfect opportunity for Hale to join what could be one of the best spinoffs ever!
