The Office actors have been revealing tons of information regarding the mockumentary. Fans have been finding out new details, including what was cut from the show. Brian Baumgartner’s podcast has exposed tons of behind-the-scenes details that many people didn’t know. Only a few weeks ago on An Oral History of The Office, it was revealed that Kevin was meant to have a much bigger storyline. And now there’s an even bigger storyline cut from the final episodes…

Baumgartner spoke to The Office editor Dave Rogers to talk about all things about the sitcom. Rogers revealed that Jim was meant to do one last prank on Dwight. Jim was intended to make him believe that he was inside the Matrix! Writers of the show wrote hours of content to be included in the last 2 episodes of The Office, which meant the cutting room floor was full of storylines that didn’t make the cut. And sadly, this prank didn’t make the final episode. But we’re glad, can you imagine the Michael Scott prank not being the last?!

On episode 11 of the podcast, Rogers said:

We had a whole thing, but we cut it for time. We can talk about the prank that hasn’t made it to the big screen, that I think we’re saving for the 10-year reunion, The Matrix. That’s the finale script, they prank Dwight to make him think he’s in the Matrix, and remember Hank is down as Dorpheus, he’s Morpheus’s brother. There’s a cat that walks by and a cat walks by again in Michael’s office, and Jenna (Fischer) goes, ‘It took six months to train the cat.’ And then we have the security guard walk by, it was the big guy, and he had a twin brother and we used him also, as a glitch. And then he’s gonna take the red pill or the blue pill”.

The parody was recorded for the show. But the prank was sadly cut, meaning audiences never had the chance to view the scene. Check out the final table reading below – there’s so much that didn’t make it!
