Over the past week, we’ve been mourning the loss of another Netflix Original. GLOW became the latest victim, as the series was cancelled due to complications of the coronavirus pandemic. But thankfully, all hope hasn’t been lost. The cast recently discussed the show’s cancellation on a virtual livestream reunion. And it looks like a GLOW petition could be bringing our favorite female wrestlers back on screen…

The Emmy-nominated series was intended to have a fourth and final series hitting the streaming service. The cast returned in March to film the last episodes, but the pandemic changed Netflix’s mind. Safety precautions were difficult to put in place as the ladies had to shoot in intimate positions. While it seems the decision is final for another season, there has been talks about a GLOW film. A two-hour film has been pitched to Netflix bosses. But it seems he production team need the help of GLOW fans to sign a petition!

A movie could be in the works…

The cast has asked fans to support the GLOW petition. Alison Brie, Marc Maron and Betty Gilpin have all agreed to reuniting for a movie version of their popular series. During the livestream, the cast asked viewers to ‘save GLOW’, even asking fans to go ‘old school’ and send Netflix letters to ask them to commission a movie.

Maron said: “I think there’s a petition out there and it would be a very exciting thing that Netflix could do it if they wanted to do it. I think it would probably solve the problem. It would be fun to do, it would be easy to do, but who the fuck knows what they’re going to do. I think it’s a great idea and I hope people rally enough behind it to raise the interests of the executives over there”.

At least the cast are in high spirits!

So it’s not all sad news, and if enough people sign the GLOW petition and hassle Netflix long enough, a movie could be in the works. Betty Gilpin added that a reunion was already planned. The actress said: “We scheduled this Zoom when we thought we still had a season four so it feels like we invited you to our wedding and then the groom had sex with a cross-eyed cocktail waitress and now we’re all just drunk at the venue together and we’re like ‘enjoy the quiches because it’s over’. If this wedding is now a funeral, let’s make it one of those fun great ones”. Let’s get the girls back together again!
