Space Force became a huge hit for Netflix this year. Viewers loved seeing Steve Carell back together with Greg Daniels, making comedic magic for us all to enjoy. For a while, it seemed that there may not be another season after initial critics reviewed the series pretty poorly. But thankfully, Netflix has commissioned another season, meaning our favorite team is back. But what does the future hold?
The streaming giant has made some changes to upcoming episodes of Space Force. After THAT cliffhanger, it seems that we may finally get the answers we have all been dying to know. But not for a while, as filming won’t begin until next year. This means a second season will more than likely head to the platform in 2022. We just want to know what Maggie has done!
We can’t wait to see what Season 2 has in store!
The Hollywood Reporter also suggested that the filming location will change. The first season was filmed in Los Angeles but proved to be a little pricey. The second season will now be filmed in Vancouver to reduce the show’s budget. The new season of Space Force will also have some new additions. Greg Daniels has worked alongside Norm Hiscock for some of the best comedies there is out there. Space Force can now be added to their collaborations, alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Parks & Recreation, as Hiscock will be a co-showrunner for the second season. Not only that, Jimmy O. Yang will now not only star in the Netflix Original, but join the writing team as well.
Netflix synopsis says:
“A four-star general begrudgingly teams up with an eccentric scientist to get the U.S. military’s newest agency — Space Force — ready for lift-off”.
Fans loved the first season because we got to see Steve Carell back doing what he does best. And boy did he reap the rewards. Sources suggest that Carell was receiving $1 million per episode, a huge record for the actor. Viewers also loved the similarities of Carell’s character in comparison to Michael Scott, the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin, shown in The Office. It seems Space Force will fill the void of The Office. The mockumentary is leaving Netflix in 2021. Let’s hope Space Force continues for seasons to come!
