We recently revealed that Jordan North was actually a last-minute replacement on this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity. Tons of us speculated who the drop out celebrity could have been. And while North was the perfect replacement, it left us wondering who canceled on I’m A Celeb just a few days prior to the show’s announcement. And now, we have some clarity!
Music producer Naughty Boy was the celebrity who decided to give this year’s show a miss. And we are sure he must be regretting his decision, after the success of the 20th series. I’m A Celebrity actually received the highest ratings of 2020, another reason why Naughty Boy must be kicking himself! But there is a good reason for why Naughty Boy decided to not take part in the show…
The musician, real name Shahid Khan, has to drop out due to a family crisis. This meant he couldn’t take part in the show, filmed in Wales at the Gwrych Castle. A source close to ITV suggested that: “Producers were gutted when he dropped out and hope he might be able to take part in future years, but they could never have foreseen the success Jordan then had”.
When speaking to Greg James, Jordan North said:
“I was last minute. I got a call to say “maybe next year not this year”, and then I got a call two weeks later saying “do you wanna do it? Someone’s dropped out. Then I had 2 days to do everything: Medical, photos, psychiatrists etc. 48 hours. It very nearly never happened”.
We’re sure ITV don’t regret how the series turned out. Naughty Boy has the opportunity to appear on the show next year, with the possibility of I’m A Celeb back filming in Australia. And Jordan North seems like the perfect replacement. The Radio DJ placed second in the series, just losing to Giovanna Fletcher. We miss the show already!
