Stranger Things has become the streaming God of TV and music. Not only is it one of the most popular Netflix Originals on the platform, but has also taken over Spotify! A new study has revealed that out of all the Netflix soundtracks available, Stranger Things trumps them all. A survey of over 3,400 people calculated the music they were loving on Spotify, specifically Netflix’s Top 10 TV shows. And you won’t believe how many times The Stranger Things soundtrack was streamed!
Let’s talk numbers…
The stats are pretty amazing. The Spotify playlist has over 248,000 followers. But the craziest revelation of them all is that the Stranger Things soundtrack has an average of over 87 million streams per song. That is insane! Stranger Things beat 13 Reasons Why, with the drama coming second with an average of 59 million streams a song. Each Netflix soundtrack is made up of material from a number of artists, including The Police and The Who. People just can’t get enough of that 80s nostalgia that Stranger Things provides on Spotify!
So who else did Stranger Things beat? Black Mirror, Sex Education, Orange is the New Black, Peaky Blinders, and The Crown. And we have a funny feeling it’s not just the 80s vibes that people are after. Fans of Stranger Things have been waiting nearly two years for Season 4 to head to Netflix. With the pandemic delaying production for several months, it meant the release date was also pushed back. Recent rumors have suggested that new episodes will be coming in August.
